DC Nitelife had the pleasure of being a part of a great event held at the Regus National Harbor on October 15th which supported the Charity Carrousel Inc.
This special night was hosted by the president of Charity Carrousel Inc., Kathryn Hammond Weaver and celebrated by many including Washington Redskins RGIII’s Dad, Robert Griffin Jr., former Prince George’s County State’s Attorney, Glenn Ivey who is campaigning for Congress and the voice of Prince George’s County, Walter Kirkland.
There was a silent auction featuring Redskins Art, The Greats in Golf and Historic African American Collectables, as well as a wine tasting by Wine Consultant Terri Reaves of the Wine Shop at Home and let’s not forget  The Cigars Guys who hosted the relaxing smoke on the roof top deck overlooking the National Harbor.
The Charity Carrousel is a 501c3 non-profit organization designed to raise funds and resources to fight against homelessness and hunger amongst children and families.
They are targeting programs that have a track record of resolving issues in a positive, constructive, self-esteem building manner, helping to put families with children on the right track, enabling them to live prosperous lives despite their circumstances. The Charity Carrousel works with sponsors and partners to accomplish their goals and intend to change the landscape of the community by growing a network of giving back, from the very small efforts of food collection programs in elementary schools, to enlisting big sponsor corporate support. Their future objective is to use the profits from the operations of a physical carousel to create an ongoing, self-funding, non-profit to support new programs or existing exceptional programs to enhance the well-being of the youth and lift families out of poverty. Â Faith, Hope and Charity is their motto and all their work is done in love.
The Charity Carrousel is especially proud of their 1 Can A Week, Yes We Can program which is designed to create an ongoing supply of canned food donations to help feed the homeless and hungry, particularly food deprived children and families throughout the year. They are asking individuals and organizations to make the pledge to sign onto the campaign for 12 months and join the 1 CAN A WEEK, YES WE CAN Network of Giving.
DC Nitelife was honored to be a part of this great event at the Regus National Harbor and we look forward to being a vital part in working towards eliminating hunger and homelessness along with the Charity Carrousel!!
