Got Online Dating?

slide1

I’m back, it’s Millie with Millie in the City with the number one dating and relationship forum in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.  Now that we have gotten that out the way, I want to discuss 8 Reasons why you must give online dating a real chance. So in honor of that, this article is appropriately titled: Got Online Dating?

Eight Reasons Why YOU MUST Give Online Dating a Real Chance

By Millie Holmes, Dating & Relationship Consultant

Let me say this up front, online dating is here to stay. It is highly possible that you will meet your future partner online than anywhere else. SO I simply ask that you put aside the stigma and inhibitions about online dating.  It is high time for you to go where the singles are – and see what all the fuss is about.

If for some reason you still are not convinced that online dating is for you, let us look at 8 reasons to try online dating:

  1. Expand Your Circles

Let me give you an example: Let us say you have a regular routine of getting up in the morning and going to work, you may grab a drink with a friend after work, and then head home. You are really only associating with your co-workers and your friends. Unless your workplace gets fresh faces all the time, it is really hard to meet new people. For that simple reason alone, online dating is a great way to see—and be shown to—people whose paths you do not normally cross. Think about it. Sites like Lunch maybe Dinner, which is a brand new online dating website that is expected to have an upwards of 5 million members, and 18,000 new daters joining weekly, your dating pool is absolutely limitless. Visit Lunch maybe Dinner.com

  1. You can practice the Art of the First Date

They say that you should have a practice interview before you go in for your dream job. The same is true with dating. Everyone knows the old saying that ‘practice makes perfect’. It applies to dating. While every date may not lead to a trip down the aisle, each will fill your toolbox with useful and necessary skills to apply the next time.

  1. Learn More about Yourself

Going on dates simply will help you define what you are looking for in a partner. Maybe you realize that you do not actually care if someone has a graduate degree. Or, maybe you realize that a shared ethnicity is something that’s more important to you than you had previously thought. Dating online and actually dating in general teaches us a lot about ourselves.

  1. You can take control of the Dating Process

I do not believe in the saying that good things come to those who wait. My attitude is that good things come to those who put in the hard work. In the case of online dating, the “work” definitely comes in the form of writing a profile that lets you shine and messaging people that interest you. Take part in your future and go for it!

  1. No need to break the Bank!

Think of all the nights you are at the bar or singles parties buying drinks and hoping to meet the right person. You could instead be going online for a fraction of the cost. Again sites like Lunch maybe Dinner are free to browse, and then you sign up for a monthly fee of no more than about $30 (subject to change) to message people. On one hand you can buy eight lattes or meet the love of your life? The choice is simple.

  1. You can screen for exactly what you are looking for

Let us say you meet a cutie at a bar. Unless she is wearing a Post-it note with her stats, you likely do not know anything about her except her name and the fact that you are obviously attracted to her. What if it is important to you that your future partner shares your passion for dogs? This is something you can screen for online but not “IRL” (in real life). Or, let’s say you want to meet a fellow busy entrepreneur from age 30 to 45. Then again, I gotta say, Lunch maybe Dinner is the right site for you. After all, over 2/3rds of their members are entrepreneurs.

  1. Have Fun

Who says dating is a bummer? In fact, there are people who get addicted to online dating. I’m not saying you should take it that far (quite the opposite), but take some pleasure in looking at profiles of attractive people, clicking, swiping, and entertaining the possibility of meeting someone new and wonderful.

  1. Last but not least – Why Not? You have absolutely nothing to Lose!

With all of this technology at your fingertips, you would be doing yourself a disservice not to use it. So get online!
