On November 24, 2017, while many in the DMV were taking advantage of Black Friday deals on everything from toys to tv’s, a capacity crowd at Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper club enjoyed a different kind of holiday kickoff, the venues first ever appearance of Kindred, the Family Soul. Clad in matching red and black, the neo-soul duo thrilled those in attendance with songs that have spanned their 15 yr career as Kindred. Full of the Philly Sound, Aja and Fatin showed that even after almost 20 years in the business, they’re still very much in love and still love what they do.
Their love for each other, and for their fans, was evident as they playfully interacted with each other and with those in attendance. Aja, singing the beautiful ‘Where Would I Be’, seemed to still relish performing with Fatin, who thoroughly enjoyed watching her as she moved around the stage. The music lovers at Bethesda were treated to Kindred classics such as Rhythm of Life, Welcome to My World, and Still I Want You. Taking a moment to catch their breath, Fatin made sure to wish several in the crowd happy birthday, and made the night unforgettable for one special couple as they invited them to join them on stage where Charles proposed to his tearfully excited now fiancé.
The new husband and wife to be danced on stage as Kindred serenaded them with renditions of Sticking with You and Still I Want You. It was a beautiful evening, Far Away from the crush of shoppers and crowded parking lots. It was a grown and sexy Friday night party, everybody feeling good, everybody looking good, and everybody chillin’.
