Meet Daniel Wolf of International Lifeline Fund Organization

Meet Daniel Wolf  of International Lifeline Fund Organization

by Tracy Lee-Anderson @TGCDiaryHerStory

In memory of his father Dr. George Wolf and his desire to give back further, Daniel Wolf created the International Lifeline Fund (Lifeline) in 2003, a 501(C) 3 nonprofit organization.

Based in Washington DC, Lifeline’s mission is not only to provide clean water and clean cooking to communities, but to do so in a sustainable manner so that each community’s quality of life is improved in a permanent way. Lifeline believes that the two conditions most responsible for the plight of impoverished and vulnerable individuals throughout the developing world are the lack of access to clean, safe drinking water and a clean and efficient method of cooking. Lifeline is addressing these problems by producing fresh water wells, implementing community-led hygiene and sanitation initiatives and promoting the widespread adoption of fuel-efficient stoves as an alternative to cooking on an open “three-stone” fire.

Lifeline’s Founder and President Daniel Wolf has been executive director of the organization since its creation in late 2003. A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Michigan Law School, Dan has served as an attorney-adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State (1987-1988), has been a partner at two prestigious law firms (Hughes Hubbard & Reed, LLP, and Sprenger & Lang, PLLC), and, for the past six years, has operated his own law office.

Throughout his career, Dan has devoted a great deal of his time to the pursuit of pro-bono human rights and refugee work, including as founder and general counsel of LAVAS, Inc.; an organization that provided free legal assistance to thousands of Vietnamese asylum-seekers in Southeast Asia during the 1990s-and as a consultant for Refugees International.

On January 1, 2016, the Lifeline Organization partnered with the ClearWater Initiative and formally merged into a single organization under the Lifeline umbrella to empower communities throughout Africa and Haiti. For over 10 years Lifeline has deeply engaged with local communities in Africa and Haiti in an effort to deliver meaningful and sustained solutions that meet individual needs for clean water, clean cooking, good health and improved livelihoods. Lifeline’s goal over the next 5 years is to replicate its past success by providing sustainable access to clean drinking water, better hygienic/ sanitation practices and fuel saving stoves in an additional 225 villages.
