DC Nitelife had the Pleasure of Reviewing the Authentic Quara Ethiopian Restaurant!
Quara Ethiopian Restaurant (owned by Mr. Merchaw Senshaw) is named after the ancient civilization where the modern-day country of Ethiopia is located. True to their roots, Quara prepares traditional recipes from their homeland. Your food is served by first- and-second generation Ethiopians in Washington, DC. The culture is represented throughout by posters, paintings and music from Africa. The waiters and waitresses are so great and they make sure your dining experience is the BEST!!!
The menu features many traditional Ethiopian favorites, including Kitfo, a raw beef dish that many are reluctant to try, but afterwards find it quite ENJOYABLE!
These are Quara’s top specialty favorites and now seems to be DC Nitelife’s also:
- Vegetarian (Vegan) Combination – a platter of lentils, split peas, collard greens, cabbage, green beans, chick peas, and tomato salad, served with Ethiopian bread “Injera” made from Teff flour (gluten free).
- Sautéed Meat Chunks – choice of beef or lamb, cooked with tomato, onions, peppers, and traditional Ethiopian spices.
- Kitfo – lean ground beef (raw, medium cooked, or well done) mixed with coriander Ethiopian spicy powder, Ethiopian spiced butter and traditional cottage cheese with finely chopped collard greens.
Also, don’t forget to try the Specialty Drink which is an Ethiopian Honey Wine named “Tej”
Quara is available for lunches, dinners and late evening meals. You can dine in or take out — just call (202) 847-3530 to place your order!
