CEO of Urban Vision Entertainment

Melvin Jackson, Jr., a Washington, D.C. native born on April 4th, 1981, is an Actor, Producer, Comedian, Writer, Director, Author and Motivational Speaker. He graduated from Prince George’s County’s Public School Fairmont Heights High School, and at 18 years old, set foot in the entertainment industry in artist management.

While a student at Bowie State University, Melvin secured a reenactment role on “America’s Most Wanted” with only natural talent. After auditioning 14 times Melvin won over the producers and landed the role of Bernard on HBO’s “The Wire.” Separately, he portrayed the role of The Bully on CW’s Award-Winning “Everybody Hates Chris.” Melvin, then, packed up his Bachelor’s Degree from Bowie State University and moved to Hollywood. His move advanced him to incredible opportunities with diverse talent. He has balanced out some of his dramatic roles with stand up comedy. His experiences representing snickerdoodle cookies, sunglasses, designer clothing, cell phones and beverages, positions him for future endorsements. His recurring role on “Everybody Hates Chris” further highlighted his acting talents. Starring roles and the opportunity to direct and star in a police drama, followed.  One of which he co-starred in Disney’s “Step Up” alongside Channing Tatum. He recently portrayed the legendary rapper Kurtis Blow in the NAACP award winning BET’s miniseries “The New Edition Story”

In 2017, he and his wife, actress Kelly M. Jenrette, co-wrote a children’s book – “The Adventures of Jimmy The Fly” – an adventure which  launches their children’s book series. And most recently, in May, 2018, Melvin and his wife announced that they’ve teamed up to become an African American husband and wife couple being considered for a total of 3 Emmy’s from “This Eddie Murphy Role is Mine, Not Yours” and The Handmaid’s Tale. Their nomination(s) will be historical. Their wins will be epic.

Melvin advocates for depression and suicide prevention since his father’s suicide in 2014. And though Melvin did not plan to be a teen father, he is intentional about channeling appropriate messages through his DREAM BIG Tour to inspire youth to dream beyond their circumstances.
