TO: Media interested in attending the DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) Summer Programming Upfront Presentation.
BACKGROUND: OCTFME creates award-winning programming for the District of Columbia Network (DCN), the District Council Channel (DCC) and the District Knowledge Network (DKN). These channels are distributed by Verizon, Comcast and RCN and provide District residents informative, educational and entertainment programing and provide unparalleled opportunities to connect and better serve the community media needs of the 700,000 plus DC Residents.
WHAT: OCTFME Summer Upfront Presentation. OCTFME will showcase a variety of original and licensed programming at the Summer Programming Upfront, providing DC residents and media an advance viewing. The sneak preview will feature specials, live coverage, entertainment, music, news, conservation, community service, and culturally and educationally diverse content for all ages. In addition OCTFME will highlight content created by District residents as well as the opportunity to meet the programming team and the talent who host some of the shows.

The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment programming, has recently won several awards for its original programming. Recognized by National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) the Agency received multiple awards including 2nd Place in overall network programming, Best Public Affairs Broadcast for State of The District and best Talk Show for The 202. In addition OCTFME was the proud recipient of a 2018 Capital Emmy Award Nomination, by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, National Chesapeake Bay Chapter (NATS-NCCB) for The 202. The 202 is a compliment to Mayor Muriel Bowser’s 202 Creates initiative led by the Office Of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment.
OCTFME creates content that informs, educates, and entertains viewers via the District of Columbia’s public, educational, and government (PEG) channels, Radio and other forms of content which includes film and social media. OCTFME currently operates three television networks, DCN, DCC, DKN distributed by Comcast, RCN and Verizon, and DC Radio – 96.3 HD4, one of only two municipally owned radio stations in the country.
