When first arriving to the Laylow, Autograph Collection in Honolulu, my first thought was Hawaiian Paradise meets Modern Retro.
It is going to be difficult to totally describe the essence of the Laylow, so all I can say is “You Have to Experience It for Yourself!”
Upon arrival to The Laylow, guests rise above Kuhio Avenue to the open lobby level with a front desk displaying all types of hula dolls which immediately gives you the feeling of ALOHA (Welcome) at check-in!
From the beautiful saltwater pool to the lush garden lanai, you will be relaxed, as well as entertained. The location was beyond convenient, next to the International Market Place and a very short walk from the Waikiki Beach.
The Laylow’s signature restaurant, Hideout, serves up reimagined Pacific Rim classics that place local ingredients front and center. Executive Chef Bryan Byard crisscrossed the islands to source the freshest ingredients from the ocean and local farms for the restaurant’s inventive breakfast, lunch and dinner menus that include a Kauai prawn and crab cake eggs benedict with mango hollandaise, coconut porter short ribs and a Kalua pork and Wagyu burger.
There is live music by local musicians which by the way was so enjoyable and you get to enjoy the wonderful ambiance by the lush garden lanai fire pits while having a delicious island drink of your choice!
If you enjoy a great night sleep then the Laylow has exactly that. The 251-room Laylow blends mid-century modernism with its Hawaiian roots. Furniture includes refurbished antiques and custom pieces inspired by mid-century modern classics, created with reclaimed woods and a vintage style. The suite consists of bold, custom monstera leaf wallpaper, inspired by vintage bark cloth patterns, perfectly capturing and refreshing the motif of the time-period.
The rooms are awesome, especially the two king beds which are not the norm in other hotels and the bathroom is unique with wood like tiles in the shower.
The housekeeping staff was superb, and the rooms are incredible.
To make you get into the island feel, there is a welcome basket in the room with Hawaiian sandals and other delicious local snacks/bottled water.
Another attraction is the daily ukulele lessons and shaved ice everyday at no charge which is so much fun for the entire family. Other amenities also include connecting your device to your TV, 24/7 Fitness Center, Wi-Fi everywhere, and feel free to bring your pet.
