This year’s CBC 45th Annual Legislative Conference would not have been complete without a platform on African-American ownership in the hotel industry and the impact that African-Americans have on the tourism industry.Â The panels consisted of the following: Norman Jenkins, Evens Charles, Julius W. Robinson, John Lancaster, Tyronne Stoudemire, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Keon Hardemon, Connie Kinnard, Laura Mandala, Solomon Herbert, Greg DeShields. It was discussed in great detail that the African-American population contributes over 8 billion dollars to the leisure, conferences, and conventions industry.Â African spend 1.3 trillion on the economy and Hispanics spend 1.7 trillion on the economy.
NABHOOD which stands for the National Association of Hotel Owners, Operators, and Developers is focused on ensuring that African-Americans have the tools and support needed to be in the hotel industry.
